She said yes! Alan was finally going to marry his sweetheart, Catalina. She only had one small request before the wedding, to ask for her father’s blessing. But when he doesn’t meet them at the train station, that’s only the beginning of their problems. Is it just the heat, or did that book talk to you? The walking dead be carful you will not want to stop playing

Now it is about time a delightful game has come out that is cute and really fun to play, The graphics are crisp and good and the music is really delightful to listen to. Has voice over also, You have achievements in this game along with finding morphine's which can be fun and challenging to find. You start off with puzzles and not HOS. The puzzles that I found were different and fun and not really hard. Not to many HOS at first. More of an adventure game which I like. The story line is cute and the game atmosphere is just delightful. A nice change of pace from the games lately. This is a game you will not want to stop playing because it is fun and gets you wrapped up in the game. Nothing hard about this game just a joy to play.

A fun way to play something new and a bit crazy !!!

Played 40 minutes, casual - 3 modes, casual, advanced, hard - Integrated SG, 7 chapters, didn't notice extra bonus... - Voice over - 20 achievements - 26 collectables (Skulls) - Note book, where you can check your achievements and collectables, a little surprise awaits you - A while after you've started the game, you get an interactive map - Hint is useful outside H0, quite fun as it's alive !! - Skip button, filled nearly instantly in casual - Interactive H0 - Good mini games, some new - Good graphics - Music can be turned low or down... Your fiancee is kidnapped on the day of the dead !! Up to you to save her and deal with the deads' world ... and if possible remain alive. This game is quite different from what I've played up to now, quite a bit of (sometimes) dark humor, a bit on the crazy side, I had fun during what I played of the demo. A buy for me.

Spooky Yet Colorful Fun!

This game is really enjoyable! Pros: + Really nice graphics. Some scenes are gloomy without looking overly gray or washed out. + Storyline is the same old "save someone who's been kidnapped by a bad guy" deal, but at least it has a somewhat different theme with the Day of the Dead thing. + Three modes of gameplay to choose from. Hard gives you no puzzle hints at all, but hidden object scenes have sparkles (well, tasteful "sparkles" that fit with the theme), which I don't mind at all. + H0s are clear, although a little junkpiley. Nothing new there. + You eventually get a jump map. + Your journal is alive and gives you information now and again (and you can also read him!). There's a nice tab on the journal to check your achievements without having to go back to the main menu screen. + Puzzles are fun, although nothing terribly new there. I will say, though, that there's one typical lock picking style puzzle that's different. It's also timed in a way, so people might not like that. It wasn't overly hard, though. + There are collectibles *spoiler alert* in the form of colorful sugar skulls and achievements. It's nice having a collectible that's somewhat different from the usual, and each one seems unique. They look lovely in their display room in the main menu. Some of the achievements are for doing strange things, like **spoiler alert** reading all readable material in the game, like posters, newspapers, etc. I like that! + Last but not least, there's humor! There are cheesy little jokes and one warning poster in the game that I thought was silly and funny. I love when games add silly stuff like that when appropriate. Cons: - The music drove me crazy even after just five minutes. I hate having no music playing, but the loop on this one is so short. - Voiceovers aren't great. All in all, this is a very nice game.

Refreshingly Different!

***REVIEW OF ENTIRE COMPLETE GAME!*** I never review just a Demo as that is not fair to the developers nor the other potential gamers. A game can drastically change for better or worse after one hour of play so reviewing one hour of a 5-6 hour game is doing yourself, the developers and other gamers a very big disservice. It would be like writing an online review for your mechanic after he only changed one tire, not knowing how the other four will come out! ON TO THE REVIEW-- This was by far one of the best games released over the last few months. Like many people I, too, am tired of HOS and prefer more straight Adventure games. Calavera: Day of the Dead CE is a HOPA, but the HOS were less obtrusive than others in this genre. There were far fewer HOS than most HOPA games. This is a relief seeing as how HOS are generally filler content to add length to an otherwise rather short Adventure game. Calavera: Day of the Dead CE's HOS were only slightly interactive. I really only recall one item in your list requiring a special task, and once you find all items on the list, the name of an additional item is listed to find which is actually the item needed to complete your current task. You are required to visit each HOS twice in the game, but seeing as how there are not as many as we are accustomed to this was not off putting. Living in a predominantly Hispanic area I am pretty familiar with the Dia de los Muertos, or Day of the Dead, festivities and have always found them fascinating. Mexicans are probably the only people I know who can make skulls and skeletons look absolutely adorable and this game demonstrated that adorable factor quite well. I loved the graphics- they were bright and cheerful, surprisingly so considering you were in the Land of the Dead! I loved seeing skeletal animals included as well. The skeleton dog was very cute and seeing mouse skeletons scurrying about was a very nice touch. There was one mini-game that I honestly thought could have been eliminated as in my opini

Excellent, Humorous and Fun Game!!

Calavera Day of the Dead The story begins as you propose you your girlfriend and she says yes but she must have her father?s blessing, so off you go to Mexico! Shortly after your arrival in Mexico, Catalina is kidnapped and that is where your adventure truly begins. I really liked the storyline and with the game taking place in Mexico, it is a nice change. Others have done a great job of listing the game?s technical aspects so I won?t go into those except to note that the by unclicking the widescreen button the game then opened in widescreen. I was a bit puzzled because in the beta version the game automatically opened in widescreen without any additional action being required. The graphics are very good and crisp with a lot of color. The sound and music are really quite good and the music enhanced the atmosphere of the game. Your diary is a book that you will receive soon after beginning the game and it contains several sections including your map. When you get into the game you will see why I love the diary. As you progress a bit further into the game you will receive an interactive map that will allow you to navigate instantly to previously visited locations. The HOS are fairly standard with a little interaction but nothing too elaborate. I found that most items were not too difficult to find. Now where this game gets really good is the puzzles. The puzzles are not all the standard type that we normally see but some are arcade type games. I found my dexterity being a bit challenged on some puzzles. That being said, I loved the puzzles and the challenge. All I can say is really bring your patience and timing when working on some of the puzzles in the game. In the CE there are 20 achievements to be earned ? one of which is to unlock all the other achievements. You need to find three sets of collectibles throughout the game in order to earn bonus achievements. I won?t let you in on the secret of what they are because that would spoil some of the fun for you. There are several

FINALLY..new and unique mini games!

I am giving this game 5 stars because so far every mini game I have played was different and fun to play. In one game you must step across a narrow ledge, there is a meter at the top and a skull that goes back and forth, you cannot step until the skull is in the green zone and the green zone gets smaller the further you go and the skull travels faster. A young couple travels to Mexico to get her fathers blessing for their marriage and they arrive on The Day of The Dead, her father nowhere to be seen. The young man finds a talking guide book that warns the couple to leave, but it's too late the Dead has already claimed her and we must now find her! This is definitely a new storyline, and the developers are trying to make everything about this game unique. You will search for hidden skulls as well as earn achievements. The HOS are slightly interactive list finds and they double up the same scenes. There is a map for traveling and it does show you areas of interest so there is little need for the hint system, however it does indicate where to go with an arrow as well as telling you what area to check out next. Again the puzzles are entertaining and I didn't feel the need to pull my hair out or use the skip button! Even familiar games have a twist such as untangling those famous ropes only this time you tangle them to touch all the light buttons until they are all lit. I like this game and I think you will too. Enjoy!

One of my all time favorites!

Based on playing entire game and Bonus: I am an avid HO game player. I play almost nothing else. I am also an avid CE player. This game, on both those points as well as many others, hits the mark dead on! It is the story of a couple that are trying to go home to get the young woman's father's approval (that's a mouthful!) for marriage. They are waiting in a train station where the story begins. There is then an adventure that involves the girl being kidnapped by Death, who is a rather nifty looking dude, other than the fact he is a skeleton. Our hero, who immediately sets out to rescue his girlfriend is aided by a book that is reminiscent of one of the books from Harry Potter. Rather scary but definitely fun. I found the story engaging and interesting, even though I was pretty confident in how it woul end. Even though game is populated by mostly skeletons and and occasional talking machine, it is not one of the scary or eerie games that are often prevalent in this genre. The graphics were something that I truly enjoyed. I like that they were animated but in a rather cutting edge way, with a few pop culture references that are worth keeping an eye out for. I don't play with the music on or the VO very often, usually at the beginning, just to get a sense of the sounds and the vocals that are being used. Some may be bothered by the accents, but the setting seems to be a Latin-American-themed setting so the VO seems to be a comical take on that. When I did have it on, I didn't find either the VO or the music to be distracting or problematic any more than I usually find it to be, which I why I don't play with them on a lot of the time. I found it to be challenging but not difficult (I always play casual, I'm kinda lazy that way) and certainly would be more challenging if played in one of the harder modes (there are three). The HO scenes were fairly traditional but I found the puzzles and games to be interesting and different. I thought that they really added to the game's enjoyability. T

Quite a Nice Surprise!!!!

I really didn't think this game was going to be too good, boy was I wrong. The storyline is excellent. The challenhe of the game is excellent. I really enjoy the mini-games, they are arcade style. Graphics and sound are nice as well. This game has turned out to be more than FUN for me. Everyone should like this game!

FUN!

This is a great game that is unique and fun to play. The storyline is humorous and interesting. A nice change from the recent influx of fairy tale themed games. As a Mexican-American, I did NOT find the humor, characters or storyline insulting or disrespectful in any manner.

Magnificent!!!

First of all, I have to say that I cannot comprehend some of the bad reviews and comments that have been made about this game. The fact that most, if not all of these bad reviews are written after playing the demo, or only 20 mins or so, should make you all pause and consider why the ones who actually finished the game gave it top scores. This game is simply spectacular. It's something new, quirky, and very creative in every sense. The game play gives you hours upon hours of fun, with lots of new and interesting puzzles which are very well explained (you can for example decide when you have read the info when you're ready to start by clicking a 'start' button). The game has 7 chapters and a bonus chapter. There are brilliant collectibles and various achievements. The graphics are just so colourful and quirky, there are lots and lots of locations to explore, three game modes, and the game has some wonderful and humorous VOs. There are some IHOGs, but thankfully not too much of them, and they are relatively easy to do. Among the extras are some new interesting bonuses that I haven't seen before, as well as wallpapers and music. Saying that this game is not worth a CE price is absurd in my opinion as it's apparent that a LOT of work has been put into making this game absolutely perfect, and the results speak for themselves...Absolutely fantastic! :) This is definitely one of the best games I have ever played and I highly recommend that everyone ignores the bad reviews and sees for themselves :)
