Yike, hat Evil Dwarf is Back!

After a short hiatus from BFG which regretfully was due to some political upset in my city, I am happy to be back to my games. And what a way to start the week-end, with one of my favorite developers. Today our story brings us back that horrible looking lille man who seriously gives me the heebie jeebies. I sware he looks like one of my great Uncles who passes away, (RIP) who incidently was a very unpleasant man. Enough said, our story begins with a murder which is right up my alley. As the lead detective hired by the victim's sister, I need to solve his death as well as find the missing ancient Book of Wishes, Vox. As always, the bunny group brings us excellent graphics with sharper than ever artwork, great animations and voice-overs, all enhanced by terrific ambient sounds and the usual musical tracks. There are three game modes to choose from which can be re-adjusted during gameplay. You have your diary with various sections, your hint system and a map that does allow you to travel. You have a list of achievements, sevral collectables which I will mention later along with a necklace which requires you to find the missing parts. A standard HOPA with many interesting puzzles to solve items to find and use along with a variety of HO scenes which really changes the pace of the game. I love that these developers are moving away from the standard HO scenes and are adding a variety into the mix. There are HO scenes where you find the silohettes, replace objects and locate the list. Mini-games are an assortment of well conceptualized puzzles that start off easy but do get a bit more complicated as you move along. What really grabbed me was the garden and that is where real fun begins. Throughout the game you find seeds which you need to plant, water and collect. Each flower will bring earn you money and as you plant and grow, you start cross breeding to earn more. This does takes you away from the game but I did love the diversion. Along with the garden, there are also ghosts that you need to appease

Saint Germaine is back - This time with a lot of Extras

Meet the vicious gnome SG again during your search for the ancient Book of Wishes: Vox. This is meanwhile the 4th game of this series. Loved the first 3, although there were no mentionable Collector?s Edition Extras, their stories and gameplay were just great! But this time there are a lot of Extras? Superb settings, graphics typically ERS-style, artwork ist very detailed and clear, well drawn characters with good lip-sync, 3 modes to choose from, 7 chapters plus bonus-chapter, direction giving hint, lockable inventory, Strategy-Guide doesn?t follow your progress and (that?s also new in this series!) we have an interactive map, allowing you to jump! Detailed Journal including your diary, your Poltergeist- and Flower Collection? Along your way, you can collect 13 Poltergeists, there are 20 hidden seeds for your garden (you are able to take care of your plants and sale them). 39 different symbol-rings for your magical necklace to find (destroys evil seals throughout the game). And there are 21 minigames, some brandnew (!) and a lot of fun to play!! 11 hidden-object-scenes, most of them played twice. Some of the HOS are from list, slightly interactive, silhouette-HOS and those typical ERS silhouette HOS where you must find one item, place it back in the scene to get another, until 1 last item remains for your inventory. Great fun!! Yes, this time a high recommendable Collector?s Edition!!

THIS GAME IS NOT A CURSE!

I don't know where to begin. This game is an instant classic in my opinion. As usual, ERS has authored a game that is beyond comparison with other developers. It offers everything a gamer could possibly want: 3 modes of play, collectibles, excellent HOS (referred to as HOP for Puzzle), exceptional mini-games, and, in the CE, a bonus chapter of massive length, and from the perspective of the story line, a chapter of consequence. It's a first person game: you are the detective that's been called in to solve the murder of a rich collector who's authored a book of wishes. The game begins with a movie that is Disney quality: the characters are nearly animatronic. They look impossibly real. This game shows attention to detail that I have never seen before: in cut scenes, if you turn the sound off, I believe you could read the lips of the characters and know what they're saying. The voices, words, mouths are all in synch. In this movie you learn the premise of the story. Within the first hour of play you learn about the tasks you'll WANT to complete, and the collectibles you'll want to find. While this is a very fun game it's also very complex. It is honestly not for beginners. This will sound crazy, but I think it takes dedication. I have never seen a game like this. When you finish it, you'll KNOW you've accomplished something (hey wait, am I talking about a game or curing some dreaded disease. Oh yeah, it's still a game!) Like the other Haunted Legend games the fun factor is very high. There are little surprises at every turn. And the grumpy elf is back sounding, once again, like he stepped off a New York subway. The visuals are rich. Colors more vibrant than any dream. The accompanying music adds the right degree of intensity and urgency. I don't suggest turning the sound down as some players do. If there is ANYTHING at all that is a little weak about this game it's the HOP: the scenes are not cluttered but the objects, unlike most other games, are very small and the difficulty o

4th one in the series and ERS did a good job again

ERS is one of the best game developers and again did a good job. This is another in the series and still making them interesting and just fun to play. Good storyline and graphics. Music is good and has voice over. The hint button works good and not all that slow. Most of these games are not hard to play at all so you do not get discouraged. The HOS are good like normal some with interactive play. Puzzles are some easy to me and some not, but good. I would have to say that there game play does not change much at all, so if you have played the others then this one is on the same game plan and level. I myself enjoy playing them and think you will also.

It?s Astonishing!

BASED ON DEMO (45 MINS) I?ve only ever felt lukewarm about this series. But these ?new generation? ERS games are ASTOUNDING. Each one comes up with a new way to INDIVIDUALISE the game and CAPTIVATE the gamer. In this one, COLLECTIBLES takes on a whole new meaning. Let?s start with the KNOWN. Our STORY centres around that DEVILISH DWARF from the previous games in this series, SG. He plays a much more involved part in this game, but it doesn?t really matter what he?s up to, we know it?s going to be NO GOOD. Somewhat surprisingly, he claims he is innocent of the murder we are investigating. Considering what we saw in the GRAPHICALLY BRILLIANT & SUSPENSEFUL intro, this is hard to imagine. It seems that at the heart of this mystery, is a magic book that grants wishes, VOX. And, clearly, SG is out to get it. At the moment it has an entire estate of GHOSTS caught in its clutches, and we will need to help them as well as find the answers to all our questions. The GRAPHICS are typical ERS, colourful, detailed, beautiful. The MUSIC is ABSOLUTELY EXCELLENT. Good on you, guys! The VOICES too are GREAT. The GAMEPLAY. We have 2 types of HO SCENES, interactive LISTS and PROGRESSIVE SILHOUETTES (find this to get that, to do that, etc.), visited twice each. There are a few NOT EXCEPTIONALLY HARD PUZZLES, mostly simple, some involving more than one TYPE to clear the obstacle. Getting around and finding INVENTORY ITEMS is about AVERAGE level of difficulty, and reasonably logical within the CONTEXT of a magical game. HINT is DIRECTIONAL, there is a JOURNAL and a JUMP MAP (I don?t think it gives ACTIVE TASKS), so there's help if you need it. Then there are the COLLECTING SUB-GAMES. In order to HELP the GHOSTS and progress in the game you must first find POLTERGEIST SEALS which unlock bonuses such as INCREASED HINT RECHARGE SPEED, and help us with EVIL GHOSTS. Then, we must also find RINGS, to attach to a NECKLACE, which will eventually allow us to DISPEL the TRAPPED GHOSTS and beat VOX.

Lives Up to Haunted Legends Reputation

Another great game with lots of hide and seek haven't tried the regular just Collector's Edition only had to check strategy guide every other time to see what's next don't like to use hints. I'm still trying to figure out the garden scenario though and why it's important. Finished demo and had time to go back and plant 3 roses.

Demo Only

First off, I'd like to welcome Nilosh back to BFG and that I have missed her detailed, insightful and helpful reviews. Now on to the game. ERS has once again proved their genius in producing high quality, visually beautiful, different and unusual games. The art was beyond, the music not annoying and fitting to the game. The hos were different and interactive. The extras included mini games, hidden objects, movies, photos of the developers, music wallpapers, concept art and screensavers. The journal included diary, a ghost section and your garden. I was only playing the demo so did not have the chance to become deeply involved with the ghosts and the garden. Map included mini maps and was interactive, with the detective being shown on the map as a chess piece. The hint button and the skip button took sixty seconds to fill. I also liked the fact that when you hit to check something it told you there was nothing to do. I played on the casual level but can be changed during the game to advanced or hard. There were no achievements, but you don't miss them as you are earning money with the garden and looking for poltergiests to open information. This game was absolutely fantastic and a definite buy for me.

I like this one even more than the last one!

It seems the developers always try to one up their last version and this one doesn't disappoint. You are investigating the grisly murder and theft of a book of wishes, Vox, and the creepy dwarf is back and interfering in every aspect of the investigation proclaiming his innocence. There are your typical inventory finds, keys to unlock doors, emblems to find to open up secret boxes etc. then there is an added feature of collecting flower seeds. You take these seeds and plant them in a pot, water the plant three times, then cut the flower to sell for gold which allows you to purchase more exotic flowers. The HOS are a mixture of interactive list finds and progressive finds such as finding a nose to match the darkened sillouette and then placing the nose on the statue to receive the next item and so fourth. You also find haunted items that break the ghostly seals to reveal items useful to the ghosts and your investigation. The mini games are fairly simple such as clicking on 4 different bird claws until they all release their grip but clicking on one claw activates more than one claw. The only complaint I have is with the map, it can be used for quick travel and doesn't show you areas of interest and you have to click on mini maps within the map for maps inside the mansion. Other than that, this is a fantastic game and well worth playing. Enjoy!

He's Baack!

Our nemesis, the nasty SG, is back in Haunted Legends the Curse of Vox. The tale begins when the sneaky little thief breaks into a home and takes the Book of Wishes. The homeowner, a wealthy collector, is killed and GS takes off with the book. Is all as it seems? Who murdered Airiman Filler? Play this new Haunted Legends game to see if you can solve the mystery behind the Curse of Vox. I won?t get into the technical details since they have been already detailed by others but will say that the game is the usual high-quality that I have come to expect from ERS. The visual aspect of a game is very important for my enjoyment, and the bunny team continues to provide the beautiful artwork and package that never disappoint me. As you move through the adventure you encounter several types of iHOS including list and progressive silhouette types. The puzzles are great and become successively more difficult as you progress in the game. Aside from a great story, I always look for great puzzles in a game and these are excellent. The puzzles are not really something that experienced gamers have not seen in the past but nevertheless, they are still very good. The CE game has many of the standard extras such as the strategy guide, wallpapers, concept art, and screen savers but we can also replay the HOS, puzzles and cutscenes. As you progress in the game you need to find 13 poltergeists and, although they are not exactly morphing objects, they are special energy fields that can be a challenge to find. You will also earn achievements that are related to a garden that will open shortly into the game. If you love experimenting, you will certainly like your garden where you will cross pollinate plants to create new hybrids and earn money to purchase more seeds. I found the garden to be a lot of fun and a very entertaining extra touch to the game. If you are looking for added value in a CE, I think you will find it in the Curse of Vox CE. All in all, I believe this is a great game. Fans of the Haunted Legends
