A Differing Opinion

Since it's on sale and people will be wondering if it's worth it, and few other reviews to guide you, I'm offering my experience of the standard edition and the trial of the strategy guide of this game to help. There's not much more than that in the CE anyway, although the other reviewers seem pleased with the bonus game. The SG seems helpful enough, certainly will get you through any tricky spots. With the exception of the contraptions, where I think it could have been more detailed. For some reason, the hero is required to make a lot of weird inventions to progress in the game. Really couldn?t see the point myself. Outside HO scenes, the hint was a direction to the right location, which I thought was a good in-between help, neither too much nor too little, and so I had no real use for the SG. The game wasn?t hard. The Main Game: the introduction was a bit sappy, but I expected that from a game with Love Chronicles in its title. The game itself wasn?t a romance at all. It was your typical fairy tale storyline, admittedly. Handsome prince (that?s you) rescues beautiful princess from evil witch. But there the romance ends. And for most of the game, there is no real feeling of pursuing a goal. It took quite a bit of digging around before the first HO scene appeared and you could start feeling you?re achieving anything. After that the gameplay was well paced, and a decent length. The visuals are passable but not up to par. And the HO scenes have much of their colour washed out, making for uninspiring searching. The music bugged me too, it didn?t add anything to the atmosphere and became repetitious. There was no voiceover, and no interaction with other characters, little animation, all of which made the game feel a bit flat. There are plenty of mini-puzzles and HO scenes, none of them too taxing, and some variations of the ?find 20 roses? kind. The Guide did remind me that there are also ?return the items? HOs as well, and that the game includes collectibles (rose petals wi

Completed Game Review

It started out slow and I thought I got a lemon but as I got addicted to the game it became lemonade. I really enjoyed the game and the unique puzzles. Very challenging it is not for anyone that wants to find things easily. I have to say that I even enjoyed the bonus game and most times I am exhausted from the game and they bore me. Everything about this game screams buy me. Good Luck Brave Fishes!

Extremely Enjoyable Hidden Object Game

A really enjoyable game. Gorgeous graphics & music, an interesting story with good plot twists. Good hint feature, fun mini puzzles which were challenging at times, with the ability to skip if needed. The game also has 2 modes for those that like a challenge. Also, very happy with the additional content, it is a little adventure in itself that is long enough to be worth the price, & was a colourful follow-on from the game.

Fantastic Attention to Details

This game is like reading a well-planned, well-executed fantasy. The story is decent and logical (and not soppily sacchrine); an event line is finished without having to trek all over the countryside, and the puzzles really do connect to the story line and move the action logically. But what really makes this game stand out for me is the meticulous care and thought that went into the graphics. All the HOGs are well-drawn, of a decent-size, and wonder of wonders, almost all the items in them are true to the time period as well as their place in the story. The inventions are extremely creative--every one is put together from objects that would be found in the area where the prince is. I'd love for the game's creators to illustrate some of my favorite fantasy/sci fi novels. I like to play this game just to enjoy the illustrations/graphhics: it's like paging through a richly-concieved graphic novel. Every time I go through it, I notice another detail I missed previously. ****MAYBE SPOILER ALERT*** Certainly hope there's a third in the works--trilogies are all the rage--and --SPOILER--it would be nice for the prince to find his true love--or at the very least--blow the witch away. That's always good. . .and with the imagination the creators have shown so far, they have the potential to come up with an ending that's unexpected.

Good, but not great!

After playing other games and then this one, kind of a letdown. Only highlights of the game were the HO"S! They didn't put a lot of detail in their graphics, colors were bland! No voices, just reading their communication. Short game also! The bonus game wasn't bad, I think that had a little more "zip" than the main story! Some of the HO'S were dark and you really had to look. Some you could not see and had to use the hint button. No map!

I WILL BE CHECKING OUT OTHER GAMES IN THIS SERIES

This game was very good in lots of ways. The hint button, outside the hidden object scenes, showed you exactly where to go next, which eliminated needing to access the strategy guide for that information. Most of the puzzles were fairly easy, but some of them, like the ones where you need to do something in an exact sequence, could have used a reset button to allow another try at it. The graphics were crisp and clear and not dark. The bonus chapter fit well with the basic game and was a good length. It seemed to have more hidden object scenes than the basic game. I'm a hard one to impress enough for a five rating, but this is a good, solid game and I will be checking out the other games in this series, at least the collector's editions.

No more fractured objects, still a very good game!

Review based upon finishing the game and the bonus content. This is the second game in the series that pits you against an evil witch who causes mayhem in peaceful kingdoms. In the first installment you uncursed a sleeping kingdom, and now you run into her again on an island that has a beast on it and lots of frozen roses. The Good: + graphics + game length + lots of devices to construct + helpful hint system that tells you where you have to go next + diverse mini games (had to skip only one slider that trampled my nerves, the rest was fairly straightforward) + journal provided hints The Neutral: o no more fractured objects! (I like those games) o journal leaves pages blank that you fill up later, which can become confusing o Spider Warning! The strangest one I have ever seen in the main game (giant!) and a big one (that you have to shrink) in the bonus content The Bad: - walkthrough not really good (list, does not bookmark your game progress) - no direct interaction with evil things - not always clear what do to next if you are not using a hint Bonus Content: - good sized bonus adventure (find a kidnapped inventor), 1-2 hours duration, 13 walkthrough pages - Wallpapers in 5 different sizes, rotating, thus difficult to select - some concept art, sliding, not bad to select Bottom Line: If you can get over the fact that there are no more fractured objects and don't mind spideys too much I definitely recommend this game.

Not as good as Salvation

I liked the Salvation edition much better. They included voice which always makes it fun. The puzzles were, once again, original, but the directions on a few of them were flat out bad.

not great but good

I played the SV and got it for 1/2 price. I do not think I would have paid full price because there is better ones out there. It was not hard to play and the hint button is good if you need help. No voice over and the music is ok. The HOS are quite good, you really need to look hard for some of the items. Good game just not a great game.

SOLID ADVENTURE GAME

Mostly an adventure game. Wasn?t as exciting as I thought it would be, but still a very good game. Options include regular or expert mode and choosing snow ? don?t know what snow is supposed to do, but there is no difference with my screen whether or not I?ve opted for snow. You have a device for assembling interesting-looking inventions to use after collecting its components. Collect 33 rose petals ? rose glows whenever there are petals in the location; rose also unfreezes water. You?ll also need them for the end of the game. Storyline flowed smoothly and didn?t rely on HOS and puzzles to fill gaps. Instructions for the interesting mix of puzzles weren?t always that informative ? were along the lines of ?put things in order.? Some puzzles made you feel smart if you solved them ? you might know what is needed to solve them, but then you actually had to figure out how to do it. Plenty of locations to explore and things to do to keep your interest. Ending was different than expected. Took a little over 6 hours casual.
