This game's a gem! Without getting too complicated, I think it offers more depth and contents than a lot of other casual games in this genre. And something else I find rare and precious: replay value -- both in letting you replay any individual level, but also with 5 large sandbox maps (1 per unlocked region) where you can play freely! Endless fun! :) Gameplay's very relaxed, and the goals are varied and not too difficult. You can try to beat the "Expert" time for a challenge, but won't be penalized in any way if you don't complete a level in time -- you can continue playing until you reach the assigned goal, and then onto the next level (and you can still come back and replay a level any time). So, in this manner, the game is not at all stressful, and not even "clicky". You can just relax, enjoy the beautiful graphics and have fun building up your city and transportation network. The campaign game (50 levels) plays on various maps in 5 different locations, many of which large enough to be scrollable. Between those levels, new buildings as well as upgrades and other types of improvements are unlocked for you to purchase. If you like "tycoon" games that are not too difficult or frustrating, not too frenetic and clicky, where you can just enjoy building up and setting things up, looking at your creation, then this game's for you.
When did this game come out and how did I miss it? Loved it! The story is pretty stock, you are taking over your family's business and need to make it successful. But who plays these games for the story anyway, right? Starting the game seemed a little overwhelming, the tutorial could have been a little better. But once you got into it and understood better, it was a lot of fun. You basically are managing a trucking operation and telling the trucks what goods to pick up and where to deliver. That doesn't sound so interesting, but it becomes a tangled web you get to unravel! You need certain goods to make certain products and you need to create a transportation chain for it all while balancing and keeping the population happy and meeting goals for the level. There are fifty levels all of which took generally at least 15 min. to complete (for expert times) so you can do the math. Plenty of different scenarios, some focus on population goals, some on transportaion goals, some on environment and on and on. So it's not like you are doing the same thing over and over on each level, which would get pretty boring. I see that there is a virtual city 2 as well, so I'm off to go try that one now!
This is a rather fun game which will keep you entertained for quite a few hours. My favourite thing about this game is that it does require a build up of skill and knowledge of the game throughout it, so you can complete the harder levels. Unlike some other games, the levels work beautifully together so if you take a long break from the game and come back to it, it does confuse and put you off at first until you get back into the swing of things. This game is bundles of fun though and the graphics are just lovely. The only thing that really irked me was the inability to build roads/bridges. A lot more freedom in that sense would of made this game perfect.
This has to be one of the most original "time management" style games I have played on Big Fish yet. It combines time management with a sort of "Sim City" style to create a very addicting game! Definitely glad I paid for this.
I have thoroughly enjoyed this game, and I have at least 20 hours into it. I might be about halfway done. The game has lots of replay ability, and there's several ways to beat each board. I find myself doing a lot of planning and thinking in order to meet each objective on an Expert, so this game has a lot of challenge. Trade routes, city planning, budget planning and building are all a major part of this game. If you enjoy challenging city building games, this one is definitely a "Must Buy".
Great game I lke this game very much
more levels across more states with the option to build your own bridges is all i would ask for other than that its a great game
really good :o) had played before, and just got back into it. So much fun and easy to pick up where you left off
